Overview
The inpatient mental health services for adolescents at River Oaks Hospital are designed to meet the needs of patients ages 12–17 experiencing serious behavioral disturbances or an inability to function at home or school. The treatment goal is to stabilize the immediate crisis and enable the patient to return to their community with skills to promote personal and emotional development, relationship building, and independence.
Psychiatric treatment consists primarily of group, family, and individual therapies. Family members are encouraged to address problems and frustrations contributing to the current crisis to open new lines of communication and help develop a better-adjusted family unit upon discharge.
- Role: Inpatient Child/Adolescent
- Patient Population: Ages 12-17
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, daytime hours (4 hours a day)
- Weekend Coverage: 1:5 Saturday/Sunday in-person rounding
- Weekday Call: One evening call shift per week by phone only
- Employment Type: Part-time employed position
- Additional earnings potential: Extra call options and Productivity Bonus Plan
- Conduct admission evaluations, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing treatment follow-up for child/adolescent patients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
- Complete required patient documentation and notes in accordance with facility guidelines.

Training facility and the ability to train and mentor
- Education: M.D./D.O. with Board Eligibility/Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Training: Successful completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency and Child/Adolescent Fellowship program.
- Licensure: Louisiana medical license and DEA in good standing or eligibility to obtain it.
