Physician - Critical Care Anesthesiology Section Head

Position

Section Head for Critical Care Anesthesiology – unit co‑director for the Thoracic & Cardiovascular ICU (TCVICU) at Ochsner Medical Center, 900‑bed tertiary‑care referral center.

• Serve as unit co‑director for the TCVICU, overseeing clinical operations for a 12‑bed interprofessional team.
• Lead a growing team of Critical Care Anesthesiology faculty members within the Department of Anesthesiology.
• Provide up to 30% of clinical time practicing operative anesthesia, as needed.
• Coordinate patient care for high‑acuity cardiovascular surgical patients, including ECMO, LVAD, IABP, vascular surgery, and other complex cases.
• Engage in academic activities, research, and teaching within the residency and fellowship programs.

• Board Certified in Anesthesiology or Fellowship‑trained Critical Care Anesthesiology.
• Significant experience in Cardiac Critical Care Anesthesiology if board certification not achieved.
• Strong interest in academics, research, and teaching.
• Experience leading a critical care team or directing an ICU unit preferred.
• Proficiency in interprofessional care models for cardiovascular surgical disciplines.
