Job Description:
** STUDENT EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING COORDINATOR
** The Student Employment and Training Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the full student/WAE/Transient/Ad Comp employment life cycle, including recruitment, hiring, on-boarding, training, performance tracking, and termination. This role collaborates with areas within the department to ensure a seamless hiring process and a positive employment experience for student workers. The coordinator reports to the Assistant Director of Student Employment and Training.
** RESPONSIBILITIES: Administrative Support (60%)
** Recruitment & Hiring:
Develop job descriptions and evaluate pay rates for student positions;
Post job openings for hiring managers;
Review and process over 150 student applications monthly;
Facilitate the hiring process in accordance with institutional and departmental policies. On-boarding & Training:
Oversee on-boarding processes, including employment eligibility verification and new hire documentation;
Conduct pre-employment meetings to introduce students to workplace expectations and policies;
Develop and deliver training programs to enhance job readiness and professional development.
Performance Management & Support:
Track student employee performance and provide feedback to supervisors;
Implement support programs for student workers to enhance job satisfaction and success;
Assist supervisors in utilizing the performance management plan. Termination & Off-boarding:
Manage student employee terminations in compliance with institutional policies;
Conduct exit interviews to gather feedback and improve student employment programs;
Ensure proper documentation and system updates for off-boarding.
** Quality Control (30%)
** Serves as the primary student employment partner for the department. Ensures the accuracy of student employment data, including 350+ student employee records, 8 databases, and 3 software systems. Collects and distributes student employee retention data with oversight from the Assistant Director of Student Employment & Training. Maintains the inventory of student employee uniforms. Serves as the secondary search administrator on professional candidate searches to enhance the candidate experience as well as ensuring the proper human resources protocols are being followed.
Conducts employment verifications for former student employees. Embraces and executes the marginal gains approach and seeks to increase the level of all services, events, programs, and experiences in department for continuous improvement every academic year.
** Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
** Other duties as assigned by UREC leadership or Assistant Director. This includes but is not limited to efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects, etc.
