Teachers are held accountable for meeting the TAP Teaching Skills, Knowledge, and Responsibilities Performance Standards and ensuring the academic growth of their students. Responsibilities include instruction, supervision, classroom management, student assessment, communication and collaboration, and extracurricular involvement.
Teaching responsibilities are organized within four main domains:
Instruction, Planning, Environment, and Professionalism. Each domain contains specific indicators such as lesson planning, instructional delivery, behavior management, and professional development.
- Administer classroom in accordance with Caddo Parish School Board policies and regulations (lesson planning, grading, reporting grades, school improvement initiatives).
- Undertake administrative/management, curricular, and extracurricular duties, including supervision of school activities, athletic events, clubs, and student safety during campus and off‑campus events.
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and stakeholders; maintain good attendance and prompt reporting.
- Attend meetings related to student instruction (departmental, professional training, IEP, parent‑teacher conferences, discipline hearings).
- Complete mandatory training such as Project Read, ACT 260 of 2023 Legislative Session, and other required trainings.
- Maintain professional appearance, conduct, and ethical practices; accept additional responsibilities as directed by the Principal.
Minimum Qualifications: United States citizen or authorized alien; qualifications as outlined in Louisiana Bulletin 746 (Louisiana Standards of State Certification of School Personnel).
Personal Characteristics: Physical and mental stamina, ability to perform job functions, tasks, and duties; ability to plan and organize; physical health to report regularly and interact effectively with students.
Terms of Employment: 172 days, or as stated in contract or employment agreement.
Reports to: School Principal and/or Assistant Principal or Assigned Evaluator.
Professional ConductEmployee must maintain a high standard of professional conduct. Breach of conduct includes but is not limited to neglect of duty, dishonesty, unlawful activities, or conduct prejudicial to the school system.
