The Department of Biology at the University of Louisiana Monroe invites applications for a faculty position in Biology. We seek an energetic, student-centered educator with a Ph.D. in a relevant biological science discipline who is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The department seeks a faculty member to teach classes for a growing instructional need in organismal biology.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching foundational and upper-level courses that explore the relationships between biological form and physiological processes. Research experiences for both plant and animal model organisms will be considered, with preference for plant biology.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses during the fall and spring semester.
- Advise students and maintain records of student progress.
- Actively participate in recruitment and retention for the Biology degree program.
- Assist in all areas of program improvement, including participation in curriculum development, evaluation, and assessment.
- Pursue a program of scholarly research and publication.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Candidates must be passionate about teaching undergraduates. Candidates should have earned a PhD in Biology or a related discipline.
Qualifications- Innovative pedagogical approaches to teaching undergraduates from diverse backgrounds.
- Coursework and/or experience in biology or a related field.
- A research agenda or demonstration of scholarly activity.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
