Science Teacher Grades 9-12

Science Teacher (High School)

Key requirements and qualifications certification: valid Louisiana teaching certificate in secondary science (grades 6-12) in accordance with Louisiana department of education guidelines (bulletin 746).

Education:

bachelor's degree (minimum) in science, secondary education, or a related field (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science).

Experience:

2+ years of teaching experience is frequently preferred. Content knowledge: in-depth understanding of Louisiana student standards for science, including life science, physical science, earth and space science, and scientific inquiry, as well as curriculum implementation.

Skills:

strong written and oral communication skills; effective classroom management; ability to facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based instruction; and ability to use data-driven instruction to improve student achievement.
