Founded in 2005, Einstein Charter Schools is a top-performing, tuition-free, open-admissions network serving students in New Orleans East.

Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Einstein will operate as a unified school serving students in grades Pre-K–8 through the consolidation of Village de l’Est, Sherwood Forest, and Einstein Middle School. This unified model is designed to strengthen alignment across campuses, enhance student support, and provide a seamless educational experience from early childhood through middle school.

Position Overview

Student achievement and growth are primarily contingent upon the work and efforts of the Band Director Teacher. Depending on the skill level of the musicians, this position may direct beginning learners or students with several years of band experience. The Band Director Teacher prepares and delivers lessons that build upon students' existing knowledge and skills while challenging them to perform increasingly advanced musical selections.

This position requires the use of culturally relevant instructional materials and practices to maximize student engagement and achievement. The Band Director Teacher provides direct instruction to students and ensures they develop the musical, academic, and social-emotional skills necessary to contribute to the fulfillment of the school's mission. The Band Director Teacher must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate strong content knowledge, instructional expertise, and leadership in music education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create a classroom climate in which students demonstrate initiative, self-discipline, and personal responsibility for learning.
  • Design and implement a variety of instructional activities that meet the needs of students with diverse abilities, interests, and talents.
  • Teach a variety of instrumental techniques simultaneously across brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments.
  • Develop students' proficiency in instrumental performance and expose them to a variety of musical genres and band literature appropriate for school and competitive performances.
  • Evaluate student achievement regularly and adjust instruction to support continuous growth and improvement.
