Responsibilities
- Present specific College-level Math course content and assess student ability to retain and apply information in an academic setting.
- Prepare classroom for lectures and labs; adhere to all duties described in the College policies regarding workload, instruction, evaluation, and responsibilities.
- Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the Mission of the College.
- Attend and provide meaningful instruction for all class sessions during the semester.
- Be punctual in class attendance and provide instruction for the complete class period.
- Make appropriate arrangements for necessary absences according to College policies.
- Prepare adequately for the instructional process to ensure professional presentation, opportunities for student dialogue, and facilitation for diverse learning styles.
- Create an equitable learning environment where all students are treated with respect.
- Develop and distribute course syllabi within the first week of the semester, in accordance with approved master syllabi and College policy.
- Develop and administer final examinations during scheduled exam periods.
- Use a variety of assessment strategies throughout the semester to maximize student success and assess program outcomes.
- Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and evaluation records; file grade books with the division office at semester end.
- Monitor enrollment and direct unenrolled students to the Registrar’s Office; restrict attendance to officially enrolled students.
- Adhere to all timelines for grade roster submission, reporting non‑attendance, and withdrawing students for excessive absences.
- Instruct students in safe usage of equipment and supplies, proper housekeeping, and proper storage of materials.
- Maximize use of advanced technology, including computers and related strategies, in appropriate contexts.
- Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the ADA, College and federal harassment policies, and other legal requirements.
- Obey and enforce College policies prohibiting food, smoking, drugs, and misuse of property.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors; utilize appropriate channels of communication.
- Represent the College in manner, appearance, and behavior.
Masters of Arts or Masters of Science in Mathematics or Mathematics related field with 18 hours of graduate work in Mathematics.
Required ExperienceCollege level teaching experience with some community college teaching experience preferred.
Required Licenses or CertificationsN/A
Preferred EducationMasters of Science in Mathematics or closely related field with 18 hours of graduate work in Mathematics.
Preferred ExperienceThesis based Masters Degree, teaching experience at the collegiate level, especially at the community college level. Candidates should demonstrate breadth and depth of numeracy. Experience using Canvas, Blackboard or other LMS.
