Assistant Principal In-Training

As an Assistant Principal In-Training, you will have an opportunity with Charter Schools USA to become Assistant Principals.

This position Administers school student personnel program, counsels, and disciplines students, and performs a combination of administrative tasks.

How You Will Impact Education

  • Formulates student personnel policies, such as code of ethics.
  • Plans and supervises school student activity programs.
  • Gives individual and group guidance for personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, and social and recreational activities.
  • Talks with and disciplines students in cases of attendance and behavior problems.
  • Supervises students in attendance at assemblies and athletic events.
  • Walks about school building and property to monitor safety and security or directs and coordinates teacher supervision of areas such as halls and cafeteria.
  • Observes and evaluates teacher performance.
  • Maintains records of student attendance.
  • Arranges for and oversees substitute teachers.
  • Works with administrators to coordinate and supervise student teachers' program.
  • Teaches courses.
  • Assists the Principal to interview and hire teachers.
  • Organizes and administers in-service teacher training.
  • Acts as Principal in absence of Principal.
  • Must have required certifications from the state of Indiana.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree (MA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Professional Certification in Educational Leadership or currently in process of receiving Educational Leadership Certificate
  • Two to five years relevant experience (in school administration preferred) and/or training.
  • Experience in student instruction.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as Charter Schools USA may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Usual school working conditions.
  • May be noisy during high student traffic.

Physical Demands

  • No physical exertion required.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
  • Light work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

FLSA Overtime Category

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
