Job Description

  • Create a positive, achievement-oriented, structured learning environment that excites and invests students in learning. We will support you in implementing systems that allow students to achieve academic and life success. Each teacher is responsible for lesson planning and teaching, using your skills and passion from the beginning. You, along with every adult in our school, are responsible for the success of each and all students, even those not in your homeroom.
  • Motivate students to realize high academic achievements. As a literacy-focused school, we dedicate over 200 minutes daily to literacy, including reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You will design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade or content teams, challenging students and allowing diverse learning types.
  • Build classroom community by investing students in academic success and the Foundation Prep FIRST values (Focus, Integrity, Respect, Self‑discipline, Teamwork). Create a culture of learning aligned with the Foundation Prep Way, support emotional literacy, and practice restorative approaches that foster high expectations and forgiveness.
  • Utilize data from daily, weekly, and interim assessments to drive instruction and interventions. Conduct small, targeted groups, analyze data, reconfigure lessons and groups, and think critically about student growth to maintain academic excellence.
  • Participate enthusiastically in structured and informal learning and development opportunities. Share professional expertise with colleagues, collaborate with coach, chair, and team to improve instructional, culture‑building, and leadership skills, and engage in formal and informal professional learning.
  • Exemplify Foundation Prep’s core values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues. Build relationships with students, families, and partners, valuing kindness, transparency, and respect.
Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 3 years teaching experience
  • Highly Certified as defined by the state of Louisiana
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • An incredible work ethic and a passion for being part of a team‑oriented, mission‑driven, joyful school culture
  • Ability to grow strong instructional and classroom management skills

Highly Preferred:

  • High level of personal organization and planning
  • More than 3 years experience in diverse classrooms
  • Certification or progress toward certification in Special Education, English Language Learners, and/or Gifted and Talented
  • Desire to have a long‑term career in education
