Special Education Teacher in Harvey, LA

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a contract role for the  school year. This full-time opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students who require specialized instruction and individualized support, fostering their growth and academic achievement. The assignment runs from August 3, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule totaling 35 hours per week.

School locations and specific caseload details will be confirmed prior to placement.

• Active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certificate with a Special Education (SPED) endorsement (required)
• Currently certified in Louisiana no temporary or transitional certification accepted
• Experience teaching students with a range of special needs in a school setting strongly preferred
• Ability to successfully pass district drug screening and fingerprint background checks
• Commitment to professional standards and ongoing collaboration with colleagues, families, and support staff

• Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and interdisciplinary team members to support student success
• Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and participate in meetings as required
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment encouraging all learners to thrive
