PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Function as an extension of the general and/or special education teacher by supporting the social, behavioral, academic, self-help, and health development of students with disabilities.
Support the implementation and progress monitoring of Individualized Education Plans.
Provide individual/group support to students both within and outside of the general setting to provide access to general activities to the maximum extent possible.
Assist both special education as well as general education teachers with maintaining student IEP records.
Work within a team of other professionals such as speech therapist, counselor, occupational therapist, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:Required:
- Associate Degree OR
- Forty-eight (48) hours of approved college courses OR
- Pass Para Pro Praxis and High school diploma or equivalent
- Desire to assist students with special needs in any education environment
- Experience working with students with characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder
