Job Summary

LSU New Orleans seeks to hire an Instructional Coach to assist with the development of HyFlex courses, with an emphasis on first-year and gateway coursework.
This fully grant funded position will work in conjunction with the Center for teaching Innovation to support faculty with design, development, and implementation of high-quality learning experiences that support student success, engagement, and retention.

Job Description

Course Design and Faculty Support (50%)

  • Partner with faculty and instructors to design, develop, implement, evaluate, revise, maintain, and continuously improve flexible undergraduate courses utilizing asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid, HyFlex, and other flexible learning modalities.

  • Apply evidence-based instructional design, accessibility, and quality course design principles to develop and align learning outcomes, instructional materials, learning activities, assessments, and student engagement strategies.

  • Support course development, maintenance, and implementation within the learning management system and related instructional technologies.

  • Develop templates, guides, resources, and instructional materials that promote effective course design and delivery.

  • Support faculty during active course delivery through revisions, troubleshooting, quality assurance, and continuous improvement.

  • Provide individualized instructional coaching and consultation to faculty and instructors related to course design, assessment, student engagement, and instructional technology integration.

  • Conduct course quality reviews using institutional and nationally recognized quality standards

  • Use instructional, accessibility, and student engagement data to recommend and implement continuous improvements, including evaluation of grant-supported courses

Accessibility and Inclusive Learning (25%)

  • Support the development and implementation of accessible instructional materials and learning environments.

  • Review, remediate, and maintain instructional materials and course content to align with institutional accessibility standards and applicable regulations.

  • Assist faculty in applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and inclusive teaching practices.

  • Collaborate with faculty to improve accessibility of STEM content, including mathematical notation, laboratory materials, visual content, and technical resources.

  • Develop resources and training materials that promote accessible and equitable learning experiences.

Faculty Development and Institutional Initiatives (15%)

  • Assist in the planning, development, and delivery of workshops, training programs, learning communities, and other professional development opportunities.

  • Collaborate on institutional initiatives related to teaching effectiveness, student success, accessibility, instructional technology, and academic innovation.

  • Contribute to the development of resources, processes, and best practices that support teaching and learning across the institution.

  • Assist with assessment and continuous improvement efforts related to grant-supported activities and faculty development initiatives.

Program Support and Operations (10%)

  • Assist with implementation, administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of instructional technologies and learning platforms.

  • Assist faculty and instructors with implementation, organization, maintenance, troubleshooting, and effective integration of instructional technologies throughout the course lifecycle.

  • Support project planning, documentation, assessment, reporting, and other grant-related activities.

  • Participate in policy, procedure, and resource development related to instructional design, accessibility, and educational technology.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support teaching and learning initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Higher Education, or a related field or equivalent experience;
