Role Description
As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective science instruction to students in grades 6 and 7. You will create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters a love of scientific exploration and helps students develop strong skills using the standards-based Amplify Science curriculum.

- Plan and deliver comprehensive science lessons aligned with state standards and curriculum objectives.
- Plan and execute rigorous science labs.
- Incorporate various teaching strategies including hands‑on activities, technology integration, and differentiated instruction.
- Monitor student progress through regular assessments and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to ensure student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Create and maintain an organized and stimulating classroom environment.
- Participate in weekly coaching meetings.
- Work collaboratively with Scholar Support Teammates to implement accommodations and modifications.
- Track, celebrate, and respond to student data.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in the appropriate subject area and grade level preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of middle school science concepts and effective teaching practices.
- Commit to outstanding academic and character education for all scholars.
- Recognize historical under‑service of New Orleans students and their right to excellent education.
