Job DescriptionAssit the Attendance Improvement Specialist in supporting school attendance initiatives to improve student academic success and reduce chronic absenteeism within the school system. Aligned with the Louisiana Department of Education's (LDOE) commitment to regular school attendance, the clerk will work with the Specialist to assist with school staff, families, and community partners to promote consistent school attendance and address barriers that prevent students from attending school regularly.
This position also includes assisting with providing professional learning toeducators focused on attendance improvement best practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Attendance Data Analysis and Monitoring
- Assist with monitoring and analyzing student attendance data to identify patterns, trends, and students at risk ofchronic absenteeism.
- Assist with generating reports and presenting findings to school administrators, teachers, and relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with utilizing data to inform the development and implementation of targeted, evidenced-based interventions and support strategies.
- Student and Family Support
- Assist with conducting outreach to students and families experiencing attendance challenges.
- Assist with developing and implementing individualized attendance plans in collaboration with identified students,
- families, and school staff.
- Assist with providing direct support to students and families, including but not limited to:
- Assist with home visits
- Assist with connecting families with community resources (e.g., medical, transportation, housing
- assistance)
- Assist with facilitating communication between families and school staff
- Assist with providing guidance and support to address underlying issues impacting attendance.
- Assist with the school's response to truancy as defined by statute and local policies.
- Assist with participating in school attendance teams and attending meetings related to student attendance as
- needed.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Assist with collaborating with school administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, nurses, and other
- school personnel to promote a positive school environment and support student attendance.
- Assist with communicating regularly with parents/guardians regarding student attendance, progress, and
- interventions.
- Assist with building and maintaining relationships with community organizations and agencies to enhance support for
- students and families.
- Assist with participating in parent/teacher conferences and other school events to promote attendance initiatives.
- Professional Development
- Assist with staying current on best practices in attendance interventions, student support services, and relevant
- educational policies.
- Assist in the development of attendance-related policies and procedures.
- Assist with developing and implementing professional learning sessions for educators regarding attendance best
- practices.
