What You'll Do:

The Head Start Teacher works under the supervision of the Center Director and is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment that supports the individual needs of enrolled children.

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Head Start standards and school readiness goals.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Support individualized learning, including accommodations for children with IEPs and special needs.
  • Monitor and document child progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD and Child Plus
    .
  • Complete required screenings, assessments, observations, and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Maintain compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing, CACFP, and agency policies
    .
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Promote cultural awareness and family engagement.
  • Maintain classroom health, safety, sanitation, and supervision standards.
  • Mentor Teacher Assistants, substitutes, and volunteers.
  • Submit accurate and timely employee time, attendance, and mileage reports.
  • Utilize Microsoft Word, Outlook, internet applications, and standard office equipment
    .
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to work at other positions or centers as needed.
  • Maintain regular attendance and participate in required training and professional development.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field;
    or
  • Associate's degree with at least five (5) years of experience in Early Childhood Education.
  • CPR Certification
  • Proficiency with computers, internet applications, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and standard office equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

$38,126–$40,809 annually (Depending on Experience)
