Location: New Orleans
Responsibilities
Beginning level inspectional and law enforcement work in maintaining legal requirements and safety standards relating to mechanical equipment; and related work as required.
Some positions may require employees to use their own automobiles. Employees who are required to use their automobiles will be paid a car allowance.
QualificationsPossession of a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- OR Two (2) years of full‑time experience in the installation and maintenance of boilers, refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, gas equipment, elevators or other mechanical equipment.
If appointed, employees must be certified by the International Code Council as a Residential Mechanical Inspector during the probationary period. No probationary period may last longer than one (1) year. Employees who are not certified by ICC during their probationary period will be terminated and must wait one year from the end of their probationary period or receive certification from ICC to be considered for rehire.
Applicants hired between April 1, 2025 and March 31, 2027 are exempted from the requirement to reside in Orleans Parish.
This position requires a one‑year probationary period and is subject to a background check.
