Job SummaryWe are collaborating with the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) of Carnegie Mellon University on the design of a Concrete Mat Laying Robotics System for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In 2025 the project will advance from design and testing to full‑scale production. The Electrical Technician will provide technical support during the production phase and final system testing and development, ensuring high‑quality electrical integration for the robotic platform.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Assemble large electrical robotics systems, installing components, motors, sensors, and subsystems, and repairing wiring as needed.
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications to ensure proper production; maintain accurate documentation including electrical red‑lines and system testing reports.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and rules.
- Support large‑scale robotics testing and operational trials, repairing downed systems, replacing defective parts, and debugging electrical issues.
- Install and troubleshoot electrical systems, encoders, and cabling in compliance with electrical codes.
- Diagnose and build electrical sub‑panels and cabinets.
- Route cabling on large robotics systems.
- Read and troubleshoot basic PLC programming.
- Troubleshoot failed automation equipment as needed.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or robotics.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical and electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
- Comfortable in an R&D environment.
- Ability to travel up to 40%.
- Electro‑mechanical assembly skills.
- Experience working on high‑voltage electrical systems.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical diagnostic tools.
- Ability to build R&D cabling harnesses as needed.

Compensation and BenefitsThe expected base salary range for this role starts at $40.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
