Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking experienced Structural Engineer Divers at our Baton Rouge or New Orleans, LA office. As the successful Engineer Diver, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients – primarily in the Louisiana area.

Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad will also be required.

The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and bridges through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will utilize modern workflows that include field tablets, UAS (drones), nondestructive testing and evaluation, marine mapping and imaging, analysis and modeling tools. The successful applicant will be required to assume increasingly responsible charge to function as an Inspection Team Leader.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Conduct site investigations of marine structures, bridges, etc.
  • Ensure that the scope of work is fulfilled and that the contracted deliverable is submitted on schedule and as budgeted
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplines
  • Analyze deteriorated components of marine structures to assess load capacity
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation
  • Assist in business development activities such as proposals and cost estimates for the Inspection & Rehabilitation Discipline in the Louisiana area
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Louisiana or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Certified Commercial Diver is required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS or completion of a US military equivalent diving school
  • 4 to 10 years of related experience
  • Proven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspections
  • Capability to lead and work effectively as part of a team
