Location: New Orleans
Consulting Senior Associate, Environmental Scientist (Assistant Wetland Delineator) – ERM
Start your environmental consulting career as an early‑career professional this role you will conduct field‑based environmental assessments, focusing on wetland delineation and habitat assessments for infrastructure, energy, and land‑use projects.
LocationNew Orleans, Louisiana or Houston, Texas.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct wetland delineations per the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and applicable regional supplements.
- Document ordinary high‑water marks (OHWM) and geophysical characteristics of water bodies.
- Perform habitat and environmental assessments and collect field data.
- Manage GPS data and perform quality review.
- Support desktop environmental constraint analyses, permitting processes, and survey report preparation.
- Assist with permit applications and ensure compliance with ERM and client safety standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams and subject matter experts.
- Communicate clearly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Deliver work on schedule, within budget, and to ERM quality standards.
- BA/BS or Master’s degree in a natural science discipline, or 8+ years of related experience.
- 1+ years of professional experience in wetland delineation.
- Coursework or training in wetland delineation using the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual and regional supplements.
- Familiarity with Army Corps of Engineers Regional Supplements (Arid West and/or Great Plains).
- Willingness to conduct fieldwork up to 75% of the time, outdoors and in variable conditions.
- Working knowledge of GPS technologies and map interpretation (e.g., NWI, USGS, aerial imagery).
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and fieldwork best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle; frequent travel across a large geographic area required.
- Preferred: prior internship, field course, or hands‑on experience with wetland delineation or habitat assessments.
- Preferred: local or regional familiarity with the Houston area or surrounding environments; local candidates preferred.
