Position: Process Engineer - New Orleans area
Company Overview:
A leading energy infrastructure company is seeking a Process Engineer to support operations at a Gulf Coast LNG export facility. The organization specializes in innovative natural gas processing and liquefaction technologies designed to deliver reliable, cost-effective energy solutions to global markets.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Process Engineering, the Process Engineer will support process design review, operational readiness, troubleshooting, optimization, and engineering support activities for an LNG processing facility transitioning from construction into full operations. The role requires strong technical knowledge of hydrocarbon processing systems and collaboration with operations, engineering, and project teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support operational readiness initiatives and transition activities from project construction into plant operations
- Provide daily technical support to production and operations teams by troubleshooting process issues and improving plant performance
- Apply engineering principles involving thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid flow, and hydrocarbon process chemistry to solve operational challenges
- Develop and maintain process monitoring tools and performance metrics to optimize efficiency and production reliability
- Prepare and revise engineering and operating procedures for normal, startup, shutdown, and special operating conditions
- Support plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and operational planning activities
- Conduct economic evaluations of equipment alternatives with focus on reliability, availability, and lifecycle cost performance
- Participate in process optimization studies, technical audits, safety reviews, and incident investigations
- Develop and maintain process simulation models using industry-standard engineering software
- Coordinate with internal operations teams, EPC contractors, and technical stakeholders to support safe and reliable facility operations
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required
- 3-5+ years of experience in LNG, petrochemical, cryogenic gas processing, NGL, hydrocarbon processing, or related industrial operations
- Strong understanding of process systems associated with LNG liquefaction and hydrocarbon processing facilities
- Experience with process simulation software such as HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or equivalent applications
- Knowledge of relevant engineering design codes and industry standards
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting plant startup, commissioning, and performance testing is a plus
- Ability to maintain required site access credentials and safety compliance requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification preferred
- Oil & Gas industry experience required
- LNG operations experience strongly preferred
- Position may require support during outages, operational events, and turnaround activities
