Environmental Engineer, Operations Manager, Mechanical Engineer
Overview

This role is part of Corporate Engineering and focuses on guiding technology applications within the company’s facilities, providing network leadership, and supporting site teams in planning, organizing, and executing engineering and construction work for strategic projects.
The position includes technology assessments, detail engineering scope development, equipment specification development, vendor selection, construction/installation management models, quality control/assurance, commissioning activities, and post-startup evaluation of project results.
- Supports and facilitates site teams in construction management, collaboration of third parties, and coordination of resources to deliver goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions intensity by 25% per ton of gross ammonia by 2030.
- Analyzes incumbent and emerging technologies related to hydrogen, ammonia, decarbonization, and clean energy and assesses viability of their incorporation into CF Industries’ clean energy strategy.
- Promotes best practices across locations in site engineering scope development, cost estimating, execution planning and metrics/controls to ensure compliance while fostering continuous innovation.
- Supports the strategic capital budget process, including item identification and prioritization, project justification, and regular update reporting of strategic capital projects.
- Identifies talented resources and develops a resource sharing strategy from site to site (CF employees or contract professionals).
- Continually identifies ways to add value to CF Industries through Corporate Engineering resources and capabilities.
- Adheres to internal controls processes and highlights plant control deficiencies to management; handles confidential material per policies and third-party agreements.
- Engineering degree in a related field (required).
- 8+ years of experience in operations or engineering at comparable chemical manufacturing companies or engineering/technology services providers.
- Experience with capital project scope development, justification, and project execution.
- Ability to independently identify and develop innovative ideas to solve problems.
- Experience in budgeting, design coordination, and/or managing installation of economically designed, safe, and effective modifications and upgrades within schedule.
- Experience contracting outside engineering and/or construction management resources as necessary.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and time management skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
- Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Willing and able to travel globally as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and a Passport.
