Location: New Orleans
Project Engineer (Mechanical/Controls)
Location:
Harahan, LA or Baltimore, MD (travel within the Continental United States required).
Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to design and manage the fabrication, implementation, testing, and start‑up of Intralox Material Handling conveyor equipment.
Responsibilities- Support the successful execution (commissioning) of multiple multimillion‑dollar projects of automated systems, ensuring customer system acceptance.
- Support design from the conceptual phase through prototype, qualification and into production, as a key member of the development team.
- Generate solutions that are relevant, useful and cost‑effective.
- Manage projects/tasks from conceptualization to completion.
- Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, heat transfer, vibration, acoustics and materials in accordance with standard mechanical engineering and design formulas.
- Assess feasibility of equipment in customer applications.
- Support engineering design through an understanding of manufacturing processes, cost estimating, creation of parts lists, sourcing, etc.
- Participate in ongoing design & solution reviews and brainstorming sessions with other engineers.
- Travel as needed to customer locations (up to 80% of the time) to support project and/or customer requirements.
- Promote Intralox best practices, processes, and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
- 0‑5 years of engineering experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 80%.
- Strong analytical skills and a practical, hands‑on approach to problem solving.
- Experience with 2‑D CAD, MS Office, and other widely used software packages; 3‑D CAD is a plus.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self‑motivated, positive, confident, entrepreneurial, and problem‑solving personality.
- Strong desire for continuous learning and personal growth.
- When critical to project success, ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Experience with job site environment.
- Prior experience in conveyance, material handling, or packaging industries.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, or similar 3‑D CAD software.
- Base knowledge of conveyor controls programming Studio
5000, Ladder Logic, Python. - Experience programming conveyor controls/network devices (Beckhoff/Allen Bradley PLCs, encoders, photo eyes, Control Logix processors, etc.).
- Ability to produce, read, and troubleshoot electrical drawings.
- Experience assembling, testing, and troubleshooting control panels.
- Ability to relocate to Baltimore, MD or Harahan, LA if needed.
- Experience with field commissioning at customer locations.

CompensationSalary Range: $73,500 to $156,200. The position may also be eligible for commissions, discretionary incentives, or production incentives.
