The U.S. Ship Design (USSD) Platform Solutions Portfolio within the Marine Division is seeking a dynamic Senior Program Manager to join the Leidos Gibbs & Cox team to support a multidisciplined team with multiple ship design programs for Government, commercial customers including unmanned and autonomous. The scope of the business activities within this portfolio includes:
Partial and total ship engineering and design efforts across the entire design life cycle from concept and proposal phase through detail design and construction as well as in service design upgrades for all surface type vessels.
The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for the leadership, execution, development, growth, and demonstration for a program of record. The Senior Program Manager will be working with a multi-disciplined team of naval architects, mechanical, software, electrical, structural, shock, and systems engineers and designers. Senior Program Manager will be responsible to assist with the planning, executing, and coordinating of one or more programs that may be in different phases of award and design.
Leidos Gibbs & Cox U.S. Ship Design Group is an industry leader in developing, applying, and advancing the state-of-the-art ship design technologies for U.S. armed forces as well as private industry ship platforms. Leidos Sea Systems are designing the future surface and subsurface fleets for our customers.
Candidate must be commutable to New Orleans, LA office.
Primary Responsibilities- Managing program(s) profit and loss (P&L), costs, scheduling, quality, and timely delivery.
- Preparing proposals to shipyard and government clients.
- Provides support to a Director for execution of a program or programs with complex engineering and design systems.
- Develop and execute change proposals utilizing established change management process and coordination with G&C engineering and design technical groups.
- Track and manage all schedule, budget, and progress metrics associated with change proposals through coordination with G&C engineering and design technical groups as well as program PMO staff.
- Coordinate and lead daily, weekly, and ad hoc meetings, to include development of agendas, meeting minutes, CDRLs, and action items.
- Support U.S. Ship Design Group Portfolio Manager and Assistant Portfolio Manager in business-wide financial and staff planning.
- Project management experience in ship design and ship building programs with U.S. Government end-customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or other related discipline.
- 15+ years' total experience.
- Strong customer focus, ability to support team leadership, and establish strong, collaborative working relationships with customers, technical staff, senior managers, and peers.
- Strong problem-solving skills, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Has or able to obtain a SECRET clearance, US Citizenship required.
- Naval architecture, marine engineering, or marine autonomy technical experience.
- A successful background of relevant experience in: FFP/T&M/CPFF contract types.
- Profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities for programs.
- Interacting with customers regarding technical and/or business issues.
- Leading large diverse multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Proposal development experience.
- Experience in applying Earned Value (EV) techniques/tools to cost and schedule performance management.
- Previous experience working with a Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering firm, US Shipbuilder, US Ship Owner/Operator, and/or US Government ship acquisition office.
- Experience in operating, designing, or managing in a maritime environment.
- Experience with manufacturing and defined deliverable programs.
- Program Management Professional (PMP) or a similar Certification.
