Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.

• Design components or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products, facilitating manufacturing operations.
• Utilize computer-aided design equipment and graphic tools such as CAD, CAM, or Ship Constructor.
• Gather information, conduct studies, perform calculations, and prepare original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals.
• Coordinate design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture, material availability, and compliance with contractual specifications.
• Exclude classifications in which incumbents predominantly perform drafting assignments or Set Route/Navis experience.

• High School Diploma/GED and at least 4 years of experience.
• OR an Associates Degree or other 2‑year technical degree in a related discipline with no required experience.
• Nice to have: proficiency in SHIP CONSTRUCTOR and AutoCAD for supporting design and drawing extraction/development, or Siemens NX for generating Virtual Work Instructions.
