Position Summary
The Senior CAD Designer is responsible for developing and modifying engineering designs and preparing detailed drawings for medical implants and instrumentation according to specifications of their product line. Additionally, the Senior CAD Designer will be focused on furthering Globus Medical’s expertise in relevant CAD software, trialing new software, and educating engineering teams on high level modeling techniques as well as act as the in-house PTC Creo Parametric expert.
EssentialFunctions
- Design and detail medical instruments and implants using PTC Creo Parametric software.
- Interact with engineering, manufacturing, and quality personnel to complete required tasks.
- Work with the in-house prototype shop and outside vendors to ensure manufacturability.
- Communicate concepts to the in-house design teams. Develop and oversee designs from concept through production.
- Utilize high-level CAD techniques such as surface modeling, body/boolean operations, patterning, family tables, etc. to accurately capture complex geometry such as bone curvature, drill bit flutes, and screw threads.
- Provide expert-level PTC Creo Parametric support to engineering teams.
- Assist with the development and implementation of additive manufacturing design processes.
- Provide specialized CAD training to engineers to help them achieve project goals effectively.
- Identify, test, and pilot new CAD software packages.
- Train in 3rd party software (i.e. Solid Works, nTopology, etc.) to provide targeted CAD support on a project-specific basis.

Qualifications- 8 years’ experience of PTC Creo Parametric software for design and drafting. Experience using equivalent 3D CAD software (Solid Works, Inventor/Fusion 360, Solid Edge/NX, etc.) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, design, or manufacturing, preferably in the medical device field.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Drafting and Design;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Knowledge of manufacturing techniques/processes, geometric dimensioning and tolerance standards;
Strong self-starting skills. - Ability to work in fast-paced environment;
Multi-tasking abilities required for successful job completion. - Well organized, detail oriented and team player.
