Research And Development Position

In our department, we research and develop the next generations of driving assistance functions and autonomous driving for Mercedes-Benz AG.

Our focus is on the development and provision of the computing platform for the various function developments.

A key aspect of this topic is the possibility of using different processors offered on the market and also predefined in different target markets. This results in the need to make software portable. AI-based software solutions are still very dependent on the respective processor technology.

For this, we research and develop methods for deploying neural networks on microcontrollers.

The following challenges await you:

• Selecting suitable trained neural networks from the open-source environment

• Adapting and optimizing these for the specific microcontroller in architecture and dataset

• Integrating the solution as a device driver in the classic AUTOSAR stack of the hardware

• Mastering the complete workflow from the neural network to the function verification on the hardware

• Close cooperation with German-speaking partners within and outside Mercedes-Benz AG

The activity can start in August 2026.

The final topic selection will be made in consultation with the university, you, and us.

• Degree in computer science with a focus on microcontrollers, their commissioning, machine learning, AUTOSAR, software integration, and testing or comparable

• Secure German and English language skills in speech and writing

• Secure handling of MS-Office, Linux, Python, Neural Architecture Search, AUTOSAR Classic, device drivers for microcontrollers

• Engagement and team capability

• Analytical thinking and strategic working method
