Aviation Safety Specialist - III

Job Summary/Purpose

Entry-to-mid-level professional who supports field safety observations, compliance documentation, and SMS implementation under the guidance of the Aviation Safety & Governance Manager. Provides foundational aviation safety oversight, assisting with contractor monitoring, hazard identification, and regulatory compliance across diverse aviation operations.

• Conduct field observations of aviation activities (helicopters, UAS, fixed‑wing, vegetation management).
• Identify deviations and hazards during field operations.
• Monitor contractor personnel for qualifications, equipment readiness, and safety briefing adherence.
• Support landing zone (LZ) setup, congested area plan (CAP) verification, and site readiness assessments.
• Contribute to safety briefings and tail board talks.
• Collaborate effectively with contractors, pilots, and safety leadership.
• Ensure accuracy in reports, checklists, and compliance tracking.
• Maintain consistent presence and follow‑through on assignments.
• Work in varied environmental conditions, outdoors.
• Maintain flexibility to support changing project schedules.
• Physical ability to carry safety equipment, work outdoors, and remain comfortable in high operational tempo and noise environments.

• High School Diploma required;
  Associate degree preferred.
• Equivalent time or experience in utility field or military aviation of 2+ years.
• Basic knowledge of FAA regulations Part 133.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Field operations experience (50% exposure).
