The team Light Systems Headlight Electronics & Dynamic Functions is responsible for the series development, approval and support of light assistance functions for all Mercedes-Benz series. In the field of automotive lighting technology, Mercedes-Benz is worldwide leading with its high-resolution "DIGITAL LIGHT" headlight.

As part of your six-month student job you will work in the area of "DIGITAL LIGHT" headlight technology. Here you will support the team both in the design and in the application of new setups for the Dynamic Light System and the adaptive high beam assistant.

Your field of activity is diverse and includes among other things the following topics:

• Support of vehicle conversions to update software and hardware versions
• Recording and evaluation of measurement data during test drives and laboratory setups
• Adaptation and integration of scripts (e.g. Python, CAPL, VBS) for a visual simulation environment
• Research and idea generation for future light systems and functions
• Contribution to the finalization of the specification of light functions ("Ready-for-implementation")
• Participation in the development of software processes in the context of CI/CD
• Migration of information from different sources to Atlassian Confluence
• Adaptation of automation workflows in Atlassian Jira
• Special tasks depending on individual topic preference
• Support of the team in the operational day-to-day business
• Continuous contact with adjacent departments in the development network

The activity can start in August 2026

Qualifications:

• You are enrolled in the field of vehicle engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, optics or a comparable course of study with a completed undergraduate degree
• You speak solid English and German (min. B2)
• You have no problems dealing with common IT tools (Office, Teams)
• Ideally, you have first experience with tools of vehicle technology such as Vector CANoe and you master at least one common script/language (e.g. Python, CAPL, VBS), alternatively at least one common programming language (C++, C#, Java)
• Working is important to you and makes a job interesting for you
• New things are not a problem for you, but a challenge that you courageously face
• You understand how to take your position in the team and value good cooperation and communication
• You bring a valid driver's license of class B (car) with you
