Research And Development Position
We are designing the next generation of vehicle access systems with the Access, Entry and Go Systems department and enabling seamless, secure, and comfortable vehicle access. We use the latest technologies to combine the highest security standards with intuitive user experience. At the same time, we are driving the integration of digital keys in mobile devices and creating the basis for innovative, future-proof mobility concepts.
The goal of this work is to build a reproducible, data-driven measurement and evaluation methodology with which different radio architectures in real vehicles can be objectively compared. A particular focus is on the development of performance metrics and benchmarking approaches to quantitatively evaluate the localization quality under real conditions (multipath, shading, user position).
Your tasks include:
- State-of-the-art analysis of UWB ranging, localization, and digital key technologies
- Development of key performance indicators (KPIs) for keyless systems (e.g., distance error, RSSI, CIR, time-of-flight)
- Planning and conducting measurement campaigns on the vehicle
- Comparison of the performance of different system layouts
- Evaluation of measurement methods and derivation of recommendations
The position can start in September 2026.
The final topic selection will be determined in consultation with the university, you, and us.
Qualifications:
- Degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
- Secure German and English language skills in speech and writing
- Analytical mindset and strategic approach
- Programming knowledge is an advantage (e.g., Python, Matlab, etc.)
- Secure use of MS Office
- Engagement and team capability
- Valid driver's license class B (passenger car)
