Location: New Orleans
Marais is seeking a Structural Engineer. As an experienced Structural Engineer, you will lead the planning, design, and construction of residential and commercial renovations and new construction projects as well as historic renovations/adaptive reuse projects. You will also mentor junior designers and assist with the development of construction documents (e.g., calculations, technical specifications, drawings) and construction oversight/administration. You will be open to developing creative designs and solutions with sustainability in mind and have the ability to design a project from start to finish.
You will be comfortable communicating with architects, contractors, colleagues, and clients regularly and contributing to business development and planning.
Marais believes in the importance of work-life balance and we are currently operating on a 4-½ day work week schedule.
Requirements- 5+ years of experience in Structural Engineering.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
- Knowledge and experience of structural engineering concepts, principles and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Enthusiastic and self‑motivated.
- Work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
- Good working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD).
- Good working knowledge of Revit.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience managing projects and junior staff.
- Experience with wood‑framed structures.
- Knowledge of national building and construction codes.
- Experience with Construction Administration.
