Research And Development In Airbags And Seatbelts
Our department is responsible for the passive safety of Mercedes-Benz vehicles of the S-, E-, C-, GLC-class, Roadster and AMG series. Our goal is to provide the highest level of occupant protection. The basis for this is a vehicle body with a fixed passenger cell and defined crumple zones, as well as the development of state-of-the-art occupant restraint systems.
The "Airbags And Seatbelts Development" team is responsible for the component responsibility for airbag and seatbelt components and coordinates the restraint system components for the best possible occupant protection in the overall system. This includes, among other things, participation and coordination in the:
- Development of airbags, seatbelts, and seatbelt locks including the fulfillment of all qualifications with the component supplier
- Conducting sled tests and static tests
- Analysis of sled/crash tests
- Conducting fundamental investigations for the development of restraint system components
These challenges will be your responsibilities:
- Support in project management regarding the development of the airbag and seatbelt component with the system supplier in Germany and abroad and generally in project work with the involved departments
- Participation in the planning, supervision, and evaluation of test series internally and with airbag and seatbelt suppliers as well as vehicle crash tests
- Participation in series projects as well as in the creation of benchmark investigations in the field of restraint systems (airbag and seatbelt component)
The position can start in October 2026. The duration of the internship is preferably 6 months.
Qualifications:
- Degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, textile technology, or a comparable field
- Secure German and English language skills in speech and writing
- Secure handling of MS-Office
- Engagement and team capability
- Analytical mindset and strategic working method
- Communication skills
- Car driver’s license
