Responsibilities
As a Water/Wastewater Engineer, you will:
- Plan and design municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Design water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Design water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, force mains, lift stations, pump stations, pipelines, storage facilities, and related utility improvements.
- Perform engineering calculations and hydraulic analyses.
- Prepare technical reports, plans, specifications, cost estimates, and bid documents.
- Conduct field investigations, facility assessments, and condition evaluations.
- Prepare permit applications and coordinate with regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate existing treatment processes and recommend system improvements.
- Support rehabilitation and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Provide construction administration support, including reviewing submittals, responding to contractor questions, conducting site visits, and assisting during project construction.
- Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, contractors, project managers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reliable, practical, maintainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Five to seven years of directly related water and wastewater engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
- Strong understanding of:
- Wastewater treatment systems
- Wastewater collection systems
- Pump stations and pumping systems
- Pipeline and utility infrastructure design
- Construction methods
- Engineering standards and permitting requirements
Preferred Technical Skills
Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
- AutoCAD
- Hydraulic modeling software (WaterCAD, SewerCAD, Info Water, or similar)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Other municipal engineering software
