Sustainability Forester

Drax seeks a Sustainability Forester to manage responsibly sourced fiber for our renewable biomass operations. In this field-based role, you'll plan and monitor sustainable forest management and harvesting, conduct timber and ecosystem assessments, and ensure compliance with certification, safety, and environmental standards. You'll build relationships with landowners, suppliers, and regulators, use GIS and forestry tools for inventory and planning, and support audits and sustainability reporting that advance Drax's low carbon energy mission.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee sustainable forest management and harvesting to supply biomass fiber to Drax facilities
• Conduct field assessments of timber stands, growth, yield, and environmental conditions
• Verify supplier compliance with sustainability, safety, and certification standards
• Develop and maintain forest inventories, maps, and fiber supply plans
• Collaborate with landowners, contractors, and regulators on best management practices
• Monitor biodiversity, water quality, and soil health impacts of forest operations
• Prepare technical reports, sustainability documentation, and audit support
• Use GIS and forestry software for data analysis, modeling, and planning
• Support due diligence for new fiber sources and long-term supply contracts
• Promote Drax's sustainability values and continuous improvement in forestry practices
