Sustainability Forester

Drax is seeking a Sustainability Forester to manage responsibly sourced forest resources that support our low carbon biomass supply chain. Based near our US operations, you'll plan and oversee sustainable harvesting, conduct forest inventories and growth analyses, and apply GIS tools to model and track resources. You'll work closely with landowners, loggers, and suppliers to maintain certifications, ensure environmental and regulatory compliance, and protect biodiversity, water, and soil.

In Drax's safety first, collaborative culture, you'll support continuous improvement in forest stewardship and contribute forestry expertise to decarbonization initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Plan and oversee sustainable forest management and harvesting for biomass supply
• Conduct forest inventories, growth and yield analyses, and resource modeling
• Ensure compliance with environmental, forestry, and sustainability standards
• Collaborate with landowners, loggers, and suppliers to secure certified fiber
• Monitor biodiversity, water, and soil conservation practices in managed forests
• Prepare reports, maps, and documentation for audits and certifications
• Support safety programs and field risk assessments
• Use GIS and remote sensing tools to analyze and track forest resources
• Contribute forestry expertise to cross-functional sustainability projects
• Provide technical input on forest carbon and decarbonization initiatives
