Looking for your next engineering opportunity? Join the World Mosquito Program (WMP) and help develop innovative technologies that support the fight against mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika, chikungunya and yellow fever.
We're seeking an early-career Mechatronics Engineer who is passionate about hands-on engineering and enjoys solving real-world problems.
Working alongside scientists and engineers, you'll contribute to early-stage engineering R&D by designing, building and testing electromechanical systems that move rapidly from concept to validated prototype.
Key responsibilities include:- Designing, assembling and iterating mechanical, electronic and mechatronic prototypes
- Creating CAD models, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
- Developing and executing laboratory and bench test plans, analysing data and documenting verification results
- Supporting hardware design reviews and translating concepts into clear engineering specifications
- Building automated test capability using scripting tools (e.g. Python) and developing embedded systems knowledge
- Working safely within laboratory and biosecurity environments while maintaining rigorous documentation and traceability
- Collaborating with internal researchers and supporting technical reviews of externally developed designs
- A degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical or a related engineering discipline
- Approximately 2–4 years' engineering experience (including internships, placements or graduate projects)
- Practical experience with CAD, electromechanical assembly, wiring, debugging and prototype development
- Strong technical documentation and problem-solving skills
- An interest in verification & validation, product development and engineering for regulated or safety-critical environments
- Work on engineering solutions with global public health impact.
