Description
WHAT WE NEED:
Sigma Engineers and Constructors is seeking an on-site Plant Engineer for an assignment at one of our client sites in Donaldsonville or Convent, Louisiana
. This position will work as an integrated member of the plant team, supporting day-to-day operations, maintenance, reliability initiatives, and capital improvement projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering personnel to improve equipment reliability, plant performance, safety, and production efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support for daily plant operations and maintenance activities.
- Investigate equipment failures and operating issues and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, safety, efficiency, and productivity.
- Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation for maintenance and capital projects.
- Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and vendors to execute plant improvements and repairs.
- Review engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and technical documents to ensure compliance with site requirements.
- Participate in troubleshooting rotating and fixed equipment issues.
- Support turnaround, outage, and maintenance planning activities.
- Ensure all work activities comply with site safety standards, environmental requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Effectively communicate project and operational updates to plant leadership and stakeholders.
- Continuously seeking opportunities for professional development and technical growth.
WHO WE NEED:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or another discipline is preferred.
- 1 to 10 years of engineering experience in a chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer, refining, manufacturing, or other industrial environment preferred.
- Recent Mechanical Engineering graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively work with operations, maintenance, contractors, and plant leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with reliability, maintenance, rotating equipment, fixed equipment, or project execution is a plus.
- Must be able to acquire Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
- Ability and willingness to climb stairs, ladders, and work in an outdoor chemical plant environment as needed.
