POSITION PURPOSE
NEXPERA's site Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading, implementing, and sustaining site-level EHS programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role serves as the primary environmental authority for the site, and acts as a liaison with local regulatory agencies. The Site EHS Manager partners closely with site leadership to drive continuous improvement, environmental stewardship, and a strong safety culture while supporting operational excellence.
PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, with particular focus on state-specific environmental regulations
- Lead site environmental programs covering air, water, and waste (multi-media) compliance, including:
- Title V / air permitting, emissions tracking, and reporting
- LPDES/NPDES permitting, DMRs and other water programs
- RCRA hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, solid waste permitting, reporting and recordkeeping
- Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory agencies, including OSHA, EPA, and local authorities.
- Manage all environmental permits, renewals, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Plan for and support regulatory inspections, audits, and agency interactions; lead responses to findings and corrective actions.
- Maintain and continuously improve site EHS management systems to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with corporate standards.
- Conduct environmental, health, and safety audits and inspections.
- Collaborate with site leadership to identify environmental and safety risks, implement controls, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support management of change (MOC) processes
- Ensure accurate EHS recordkeeping and documentation, including OSHA logs, environmental reports, and internal metrics.
- Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective/preventive action tracking.
- Support emergency preparedness and response planning, including drills and evaluations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics, including leading indicators.
- Partner with HR and Operations on workers’ compensation, return-to-work programs, and employee health initiatives.
- Provide Process Safety Management (PSM) support.
- Stay current on changes to local and federal EHS regulations and proactively implement compliance strategies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
In order to be qualified for this role, the following is required:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of EHS experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Demonstrated experience with state-specific environmental regulations, including permitting and compliance.
- Strong multi-media environmental experience (air, water, and waste).
