QUALIFICATIONS:
  • The role is an every other year position starting with the first year in
  • Current certified staff member preferred
  • Understand a musical backstage process to provide production support assisting with behind the scenes operations preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with youth, preferably middle school-aged children (ages 11–14), in a camp, school, or recreational setting preferred but not required
  • A creative, positive, mentoring attitude that prioritizes student growth and confidence-building over flawless performance
JOB GOAL:

In accordance with district policies and procedures, the Musical Assistant (Stage Crew) will assist in planning, organizing, and executing a work crew of students to support a high- quality musical production while fostering a safe, collaborative, and inclusive environment where students can develop their self-expression, confidence, and passion for the performing arts.

Musical Assistant

Stipend: $1,725

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists with the management of the production set up process, including working with students to create posters, programs, props, costume accessories, set pieces, and production needs throughout the season.
  • Monitors student coverage of events. Typically involves 1-2 times a week, but could be more often closer to production.
  • Assists with managing the storage, use, and repair of school-owned equipment and materials.
  • Assists with ordering supplies and materials necessary for the production in accordance with established district procedures and budget allocations.
  • Serve as an appropriate role model for student participants through his/her instructions and actions.
  • Serves as a mentor to each participant to promote the development and demonstration in students the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Complies with federal and state laws and Board of Education policies.
  • Creates an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Works with the directors on deadlines, schedule, and communication process for production.
  • Meets with each building principal and directors to review plans of production.
  • Other duties as assigned by the directors, principals, or other administrative staff.
