Chief Accounting Officer

Location: Geismar

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

• Lead all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.

• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.

• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.

• Oversee account reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.

Cost Accounting & Inventory Management

• Lead cost accounting activities including standard costing, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost analysis.

• Oversee inventory accounting, valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes.

• Ensure accurate tracking of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.

• Partner with operations to improve cost visibility, efficiency, and margin performance.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting.

• Provide financial analysis and insights on plant performance, production costs, and profitability.

• Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide actionable recommendations.

• Support strategic planning and capital investment analysis.

Treasury & Cash Management

• Oversee treasury functions including cash flow management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.

• Monitor working capital, including receivables, payables, and inventory levels.

• Ensure effective cash forecasting and management.

• Oversee customer billing processes and ensure accurate revenue recognition.

• Ensure proper controls and timely collection of receivables.

• Partner with commercial and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

• Support internal and external audit processes.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements.

Operational Partnership

• Partner closely with plant leadership and operations to provide financial insight and support decision-making.

• Serve as a key financial leader within the facility, supporting operational and strategic initiatives.

• Drive process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and financial visibility.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• CPA designation strongly preferred

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles

• Strong manufacturing accounting experience, including cost accounting and inventory

• Strong knowledge of US GAAP

• Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment

• Experience using SAP is preferred

• Experience in chemical, petrochemical, plastics, rubber, or heavy manufacturing industries

• Experience supporting facilities with complex inventory and production processes
