Job TitleRevenue Tax Auditor – Field Audit Sales Tax Division
Qualifications- Three years of experience in tax accounting or tax auditing; OR
- Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
- A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR
- An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics, or a Juris Doctorate; OR
- Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or a current Louisiana license to practice law.
Experience substitution:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
- Perform in-state and out-of-state field audits of the most complex businesses and corporations to ensure compliance with Louisiana tax laws, regulations, and policies and the collection of taxes.
- Coordinate tax audits within Louisiana and other U.S. locations for various tax types, including but not limited to Corporation Income, Franchise, Personal Income, Sales/Use, Severance, International Fuel Tax Agreement, Tobacco, Motor Fuel, Natural Gas Franchise, and other department-administered taxes.
- Independently conduct examinations of financial statements, accounting records, tax reports, and operational processes of large, complex, diverse national and international corporations domiciled within and outside Louisiana to determine correct Louisiana tax liability.
- Travel to out-of-state metropolitan areas to conduct examinations of complex taxpayers’ financial statements, accounting records, tax reports, and operational processes to determine correct tax liability.
Appointment Type: Probational Appointment, Job Appointment, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty.
Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Revenue Tax Auditor I, II, or III.
Compensation- The salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
- Special Entrance Rates (SER) for each level:
- Revenue Tax Auditor I (AS-614): $21.33 hourly; $1,706.40 biweekly.
- Revenue Tax Auditor II (AS-615): $22.82 hourly; $1,825.60 biweekly.
- Revenue Tax Auditor III (AS-617): $25.21 hourly; $2,016.80 biweekly.
