Overview
The Director of Financial Accounting will manage members of the corporate accounting team responsible for general accounting across all functions and departments. Reporting to the Vice‑President, Finance & Analytics, the director oversees accounting operations for assigned areas, ensuring accurate, timely financial close in accordance with GAAP.
Responsibilities- Direct and oversee the team responsible for recording transactions for all facilities, executing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close in accordance with GAAP; monitor recorded amounts, identify, investigate and resolve issues, and explain variances to budget.
- Lead the revenue close team, executing monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close and ensuring accurate results; monitor recorded amounts, identify and resolve issues, and explain variances to budget.
- Supervise restricted‑fund grant and contract accounting, including federal, state, local, and private grant reporting; prepare or review reconciliations of expenditures, review monthly invoices to grantors, and prepare, review, and approve invoices. Manage FFATA reporting.
- Ensure all account reconciliations are performed timely, discrepancies are identified and cleared, and financial statements present accurate information.
- Assist facility locations in reviewing and preparing annual budgets, providing insight into financial transactions and feedback on proposed budgets to ensure amounts are appropriately budgeted.
- Lead, mentor, and engage direct reports and their teams; establish short‑ and long‑range goals and objectives for the function and employees.
- Implement and maintain processes and internal controls that ensure the accuracy and completeness of all internal and external financial reporting.
- Minimum: 7 years of experience in increasingly responsible finance management positions.
- Preferred: 5 years of healthcare experience and/or public accounting experience.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Master’s degree preferred). - Licenses and
Certifications:
Certified Public Accountant (preferred). - Skills:
Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP; strong proficiency with MS Office Suite; experience managing relationships with external auditors; effective oral and written communication; interpersonal skills; ability to motivate, manage multiple projects, facilitate group meetings; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports; maintain confidentiality.
