Lending Advisor

Salary range: $22.80 to $28.50 per hour based on skills and experience. Classification:
On-site.

Scope

As a dedicated member of the OnPath FCU team, this role performs a variety of tasks in partnership with surrounding departments, providing cost-effective financial services for our members.

Primary Functions

The Lending Advisor is responsible for creating an exceptional experience for each member that they encounter. Lending Advisors set the standard of service from the time that they answer a call and each time that they assist a member by answering questions, educating a member on loan processes, and assisting a member with new services including deposits and other products.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Takes inbound loan by phone applications for both members and potential members.
  • Processes online loan applications and enters complete information for quick and efficient loan decisioning.
  • Has consultative conversations with members, listening, analyzing data and offers services suited specifically for that member.
  • Cross sells opportunities using knowledge gained during application process, credit reports, and fact-finding process.
  • Outbound calling to generate new loan leads.
  • Meets or exceeds individual and department sales goals established by the CU.
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills to explain credit union policies and resolve basic member concerns in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Maintains and develops a working knowledge of current lending policies and procedures.
  • Has a working knowledge of all documents as it pertains to membership, account opening and loan services; knows how to obtain the information and can explain disclosures properly to the member.
  • Understands, can explain, and offers loan and loan protection products:
    Debt Protection, GAP, and MRC.
  • Maintains knowledge of state and federal regulations that guide compliance regarding transactions.
  • Leverages technology within the Symitar and Meridian Link systems.
  • Maintains the security of the work area and keeps it organized and neat.
  • Performs the duties of a Lending Advisor as needed.
  • May operate as a leader in the absence of supervisor.
Experience
  • Two to three years of experience in a financial institution or retail institution.
Education / Certifications / Licenses

A high school diploma; some college preferred.

Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
  • Personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for first‑level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting.
Other Skills
  • Established history of working well with others.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to read and write effectively.
  • Proven track record in cross‑selling products and services.
  • Successful completion of the credit union's Sales Team training program.

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, sit, stand, and lift up to 10 lbs. Must be able to climb/descend stairs in emergency situations. Operate computer terminals, phones, and other office equipment for 6–8 hours/day. May work extended hours or travel off‑site as required.

Working Conditions

Work indoors in a climate‑controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental Requirements

Perform job functions independently or with limited supervision; handle multiple and changing priorities; exercise discretion with confidential matters; maintain high levels of customer service under deadlines.
