Position: Sr. Commercial Loan Officer
Department: Business Services
Reports To: Director - Business Services

SUMMARYThe Senior Commercial Loan Officer is responsible for developing and managing commercial lending and business member relationships to drive portfolio growth and expand business services. This role identifies new business opportunities, cultivates prospective members, and strengthens existing relationships through consultative sales and exceptional service. Responsibilities include originating and assisting with the underwriting of commercial loans, evaluating member financial needs, recommending appropriate lending and deposit solutions, and maintaining strong credit quality within the loan portfolio.
The position collaborates with internal teams and leadership to achieve growth objectives, promote credit union products and services, and ensure compliance with all applicable lending regulations, policies, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Develop and manage a new business opportunities pipeline
- Develop and implement marketing plans to identify and gain new business members and deepen product penetration among existing business members. Create and maintain prospecting efforts
- Maintaining existing member relationships
- Maintain an awareness of competitive products, practices, and pricing reflecting changes in the Credit Union’s primary market area.
- Communicate with business members and prospective members to determine their financial needs, collect necessary loan application information, loan decisioning, and advise on the selection of appropriate depository accounts.
- Works with Commercial Underwriter to prepare the credit memo for approval presentation.
- Joint calling efforts with Leadership when appropriate to capitalize on referrals from this important internal network.
- Maintain credit quality of the loan portfolio, and ensure that all loans meet policy and regulatory requirements.
- Promote and cross-sell other credit union products and services as appropriate.
- Work with Business Origination Specialist and Loan Servicing Specialist to originate and maintain the loan portfolio.
- Responsible for compliance with all lending regulations
- Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)

- Travel of up to 30% required.
- Non-traditional work hours required. This can include but not limited to evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the functions of the position preferred.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- 5+ years of similar or related Commercial Lending experience required.
- Advanced knowledge of the principles of commercial lending and commercial banking laws. Aptitude to assimilate state banking and NCUA Member Business loan regulations, as well as the Credit Union’s Member Business Loan Policies and Procedures.
- Advanced knowledge in credit underwriting skills, including business and individual financial statement analysis with special focus on liquidity, leverage, cash flow and risk grading.
