Personal Financial Counselor; Orleans, LA

Responsibilities

• Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to military service members and their families at assigned military installations.
• Deliver one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referrals to external resources as needed.
• Collaborate with installation and branch points of contact to ensure program scope and effectiveness.
• Assist service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop, coordinate, publicize, and deliver a range of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering the military lifecycle.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling and electronic communication modes (e.g., web‑based, secure chat, video teleconference) as authorized.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with Department of Defense protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trend and issue information.
• Engage in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, and other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; an associate degree plus 4 years of experience or a high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizenship and fluent English required; bilingual in English and Spanish is required if specified by the contract.
• Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation and pass the OCI disclosure process.
• One of the following certifications must be held:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
• Valid driver’s license and in‑state residency is preferred but not required.

Grade: 24. Salary range: $58,440 – $93,500, subject to adjustment based on skills, experience, education, and other job factors. The position may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.
