Job Function –

Responsible for the investigation of fraudulent, illegal or improper activities by internal or external means, and the prevention and recovery of losses sustained by such activities. This includes, but not limited to debit cards, credit cards, check fraud, wire transfers or any other transaction channels.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for account/transaction monitoring through the use of various reports and the Bank’s automated Fraud Detection systems to identify and report any fraudulent activity.
  • Serves as Senior Subject Matter Expert for the Fraud team.
  • Ensures fraud alerts are reviewed in a timely manner and escalated to management for action as appropriate.
  • Determines and actions upon next steps of the initial alert review such as placing appropriate holds when needed, maintaining files and documenting investigative activities on all fraud alerts.
  • Conducts thorough and timely investigations of alerted/potentially fraudulent activity to minimize losses to the bank and/or our customers.
  • Documents investigations and communicates as necessary to management.
  • Assist Fraud team members with complex investigations to determine actions needed to quickly identify fraud tactics and take actions to prevent potential losses.
  • Coordinates with management to aide in the tracking and recovery of losses.
  • Works with management on creation of and updates to, departmental processes and procedures.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of fraud trends, laws, regulations and best practices in the industry.
  • Identifies fraud threats to maintain below industry benchmarks related to fraud losses.
  • Educates employees to identify and respond to potential fraud threats.
  • Prepares various accurate, timely reports for management to include status of investigations and any recommendations about future measures to be taken.
  • Active liaison with various professional organizations and institutions.
  • Ensures that own work is in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and guidelines.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Education and Related Experience –
  • 10+ years’ experience in Banking and Fraud operations required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
Skills and Abilities

  • Through understanding of MS Office products with strong Word/Excel software capabilities.
  • Ability to quickly identify and weigh options and present best solutions to management.
  • Ability to gather and analyze data to reach a decision to resolve any issues.

  • Strong reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent at multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a keyboard if required performing the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document.
  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 20 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions.
