Overview
The Advisor Development Program is designed for individuals excited to transition into a career as a Financial Advisor and develop their own client book within Merrill Wealth Management.
As a Merrill Advisor Development Program – Financial Advisor, you will work with high‑net‑worth individuals to identify needs, develop relationships, review financial goals, and deliver comprehensive recommendations that align with the client’s objectives.
Responsibilities- Develop a book of business to meet and exceed established performance hurdles.
- Prioritize sourcing prospective clients, capitalizing on referrals, assessing customer needs, and referring customers to the appropriate internal specialists.
- Deliver highly customized solutions to meet client needs, recommend investment products and services suitable for prospects, and manage account execution.
- Balance investment growth, referral activities, client follow‑up, prospect building, administrative compliance, and personal development.
- Organize and manage resources (time, people, budget) to run a productive practice.
- Seek expertise of specialists when appropriate to develop comprehensive planning and investment strategies.
- Complete mandated training, assessments, performance goals and continuing education requirements.
- Currently holds Series 7 & 66 (or 63 & 65 in lieu of 66) licenses.
- Minimum of one year experience in the financial services industry or a sales environment with goal attainment.
- Minimum of one year experience in the investments industry, including investment training and in‑depth knowledge of investment products and services.
- Proven ability to engage with and influence others, build trust, and build credibility.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication; quick to build trust and credibility.
- Strong assessment skills and the ability to recommend appropriate solutions.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with key partners.
- Goal and results oriented with an entrepreneurial mindset; ability to source clients through prospecting and networking.
- Ability to work in an environment where compensation is largely performance‑based.
- Strong follow‑through skills, technical literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Minimum of one year additional financial services industry or sales experience.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technology or applications.
