Job Overview
City of New Orleans is seeking a Grant Writer to proactively identify and secure funding opportunities for city agencies.
Responsibilities- Research and identify federal, state, county, private, and international grant opportunities.
- Administer grant opportunities in a database and communicate opportunities throughout the city.
- Plan, organize, and manage grant opportunities for departmental operations; assist Grant Specialists and Project Managers with completion of grant applications.
- Prepare responses to city leadership, management, and other grant funders and organizations, monitor, train, and evaluate staff and outside partners for implementation of grants.
- Monitors city agency issues and projects when grant‑funded or grant‑eligible.
- Coordinate planning and preparation of grant proposals for one or more departments; provide guidance and assistance to program managers in interpreting funding regulations and requirements.
- Coordinate and attend meetings with staff members to plan programs, identify issues, and improve services/programs.
- Develop, coordinate, and manage various current and new grants from private, state, and federal agencies.
- Provide systematic fiscal oversight of grant‑funded programs by monitoring documents review.
- Bachelor’s degree minimum.
- Minimum 5 years of grant writing and/or grant sourcing experience.
- Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential or Grant Writer certification from any recognized organization.
- Proficiency with BRASS, eCivis, , Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with background check processes: statewide criminal search, SSN trace, fingerprint Level 2 check, FBI level, sex offender list, past employment verification, motor vehicle check, 10 panel drug screen.
- Temporary staffing professional(s) needed: 1 opening.
- Assignment duration:
Days/Weeks/Months/Years (to be determined). - Ideal start date: TBD; end date: TBD.
- Working hours:
9:00‑4:30 pm, Monday‑Friday. - Lunch period: 12:00‑12:30 pm.
