The Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented ARDC Specialist to support our mission of maintaining safety, accountability, and accurate offender records. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the integrity of admissions, releases, and daily correctional documentation while contributing to the smooth operation of our facility.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR A bachelor's degree. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Address inmate concerns with professionalism and accuracy — Receive, review, and respond to inmate inquiries related to classification, housing, work assignments, and record status. Ensure concerns are documented, routed appropriately, and resolved in accordance with departmental policies and timelines.

  • Conduct comprehensive inmate classification assessments — Evaluate each inmate's criminal history, institutional behavior, biographical information, and risk factors to determine appropriate custody levels. Maintain accurate classification records and ensure all decisions align with state regulations and facility guidelines.

  • Ensure proper housing placement and work assignment allocation — Assign inmates to housing units and job roles that match their classification level, skills, behavioral history, and facility needs. Monitor and update placements as circumstances change, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Position-Specific Details :

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Career Progression Group : CORRECTIONS ARDC SPECIALIST 1, 2, OR 3

  • Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
  • Salary depends on level of experience.
