The Iowa Correctional Institution for Women is a multi-faceted facility that serves as the sole female facility and female reception center for the Iowa Department of Corrections.
Schedule:- Shift: Afternoon shift (1:00 PM – 11:00 PM)
- Rotation: 6 days on/4 days off, 5 days on/5 days off, 5 days on/3 days off
- Shift Supervision & Security:
- Supervise employees during assigned shifts.
- Visit all staffed areas and living/working units for incarcerated individuals once per shift, documenting rounds using a PDA.
- Assign area and personal offender searches. Ensure the overall orderly operations of the institution.
- Staff Management & Development:
- Identify training and developmental needs for Correctional Officers (COs), providing necessary coaching to improve job performance.
- Assist with training sessions and orientation as designated.
- Administrative & HR Duties:
- Maintain, approve, and deny CO work time and leave requests within the Work Day and Kronos systems.
- Complete CO work schedules.
- Develop and write timely performance evaluations for assigned COs.
- Documentation & Investigations:
- Complete staff investigations thoroughly and on time.
- Maintain all pertinent information in the Supervisor daily log and make all necessary entries and changes in the ICON system.

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
a. One year of full-time work experience in correctional or law enforcement officer work; and
b. A combination of a total of two years of education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in penology, police science, psychology, sociology, or social work equals one year of full-time experience.
